Missouri River Center
Huntsdale, MO
The Missouri River Center is a large scale agroforestry demonstration farm showcasing resilient, profitable alternatives for floodplain agriculture. In partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the MU Center for Agroforestry, Stacked Agroforestry helped design and plant a 2000 tree riparian buffer and a 40 acre pecan and hay alley cropping system.
Moonlight Growers
Overland Park, KS
As part of the University of Missouri’s Chestnut Improvement Network, the Morgans established a five acre orchard on the Kansas prairie edge to advance regionally adapted chestnut varieties. Stacked Agroforestry implemented the project, bringing their research based design to life with precision planting.
Wildscapes
Warrensburg, MO
The Morgans run livestock and had long wanted to add chestnuts without losing grazing capacity. Stacked Agroforestry helped design a layout that fit seamlessly into their pasture system, sourced all the trees and materials, and planted nearly 2,000 chestnuts using a precise GPS grid. The Overpass System now protects the trees while allowing full grazing access, turning a long-time goal into a practical, productive reality.
Payne Farm
Concordia, MO
Once a conventional corn and soybean operation, Payne Farms—located along the I-70 corridor—is now transforming into a diverse agroforestry system that blends silvopasture and high-value tree crops. Stacked Agroforestry helped design and establish nearly 100 acres of chestnut and mixed-species silvopastures tailored to the grazing behaviors of cattle, sheep, and pigs, with additional expansion planned for the coming years.
Tiffany's Farm
Product Manager
Tiffany’s farm in the rocky Ozarks demonstrates that not every planting needs to focus on tree crops. Her silvopasture design prioritizes animal comfort and forage diversity, featuring fast-growing species like black locust and poplar alongside fodder trees like thornless honey locust and mulberry. Stacked Agroforestry also installed the Overpass System, allowing her Angus herd to graze freely between trees immediately after planting.
"I was wrestling with how to plant so many chestnut seedlings quickly. After meeting Josh at the Missouri Chestnut Roast Festival, I knew he’d be a good partner—that was an understatement. His team planted efficiently, the seedlings took off (many over 10 feet tall in six months), and Josh has followed up several times. It’s clear he truly cares about our success.
